Dear I20Justice.com:

William Earl Lynd is scheduled to be executed on May 6th in Georgia for the 1988 murder of Virginia Moore. His will be the first execution in the U.S. in seven months.

Take action today to commute the death sentence for William Lynd.

Recently the Supreme Court ended a seven month defacto moratorium on executions by ruling that lethal injection is constitutional. During that time New Jersey abolished the death penalty, and the UN General Assembly called for a worldwide moratorium on executions.

As the world moves away from the death penalty, vast problems continue to plague the capital punishment system in the U.S. and this is not the time for any state to rush to execution.

Mr. Lynd's execution may go forward despite doubts as to the aggravating circumstances of his crime that led the state to seek the death penalty. And while Mr. Lynd should be held accountable for his crime, the nature of the crime and degree of brutality are essential in determining a death sentence. While the state relied on evidence from a non physician, medical experts who reviewed this case more recently drew conclusions about the nature of the shooting that suggest that the charge should have been voluntary manslaughter; a charge that does not carry the death penalty.

Mr. Lynd has a clemency hearing on May 5th before the GA Board of Pardons and Paroles. Please send a letter today to the Board – tell them that you oppose the resumption of executions in Georgia and request clemency for William Earl Lynd.

This is the moment to halt all executions. It is not the moment to speed up the process and resume state killing.

Dungeon kids: Rescued children communicate with growls!

The children cut off from the outside world from birth by their father developed an animal-like language of growling and cooing as their mother tried to give them a "normal" upbringing. For the first time, a picture was emerging of day-to-day life in the cellar which showed the remarkable protective efforts Elisabeth Fritzl went to in raising the children fathered by her own father, 73-year-old Josef Fritzl. They speak normally to strangers - despite not having a wide vocabulary - but communicate in animal-like noises when alone together.

House approves anti-genetic discrimination bill

Police Officer Allegedly Performed Sex Acts On Cows

Authorities announced Moorsetown Officer Robert Melia Jr., 38, has been charged with four counts of animal cruelty after allegedly engaging in sex acts with cows between June and December of 2006. Melia and his former girlfriend were previously charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of criminal sexual contact with three girls in his Pemberton home from 2003 until 2006.

Illinois -- Woman Exonerated of Daughter's Murder Needs the Governor's Pardon

Tabitha Pollock was asleep when her boyfriend killed her 3-year-old daughter. Charged with first-degree murder because prosecutors believed she should have known of the danger, Pollock spent more than six years in prison before the Illinois Supreme Court threw out the conviction. To fully clear her name, Pollock -- as well as a dozen or so other former Illinois inmates who have been exonerated -- needs an official pardon, which only the governor can give. She applied in 2002 but has received no word.

Sean Bell's family held a raucous meeting on Tuesday night in a Manhattan union hall with hundreds of supporters to organize a massive show of civil disobedience aimed at shutting the city down. "There will be several actions within the next 10 days," said the Rev. Al Sharpton. "These policemen should know they have not, I repeat not, closed this case." Bell's dad said any protests will be peaceful. "We don't want violence, it only hurts ourselves," William Bell said. Participants said that amid all the angry denunciations of the police and the acquittal of the three detectives who killed Bell on his wedding day, committees were formed and loose plans were struck for a boycott of city businesses and a march on the Justice Department.

The NATIONALIST Black Leadership Coalition (NBLC), organizational arm for the national Movement to Bring Back Black BringBackBlack.org , headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia has announced plans the oranization intends to designate a "President of Black America"

The coalition held its quarterly meeting in Atlanta, April 5, 2008 along with a town hall meeting open to the "conscious Black community." Founding members outlined plans to address the needs of Black America, despite the country propelling a Barack Obama to potentially become America's first Black president.

Recently in an article from The Black Agenda Report by Glen Ford:

Without really trying, in fact, without committing a single purposeful act, Black America has succeeded in rendering itself totally irrelevant this election season. About 90 percent of Black America has allied itself with a candidate that never promised them a damn thing.

In the article Ford questions the leadership of Black America:

...the great tragedy of the current campaign season is the total failure of what passes for Black leadership to have any influence on the growing Obama phenomenon, a corporate manifestation that has never promised anything to Blacks, yet claims to be the center of a "movement." In truth, having sold their votes for nothing, African Americans have for some time been irrelevant to the current campaign discourse. At this late date, some progressives claim readiness to challenge Rightist tendencies in the Obama machine. But time ran out on that option long ago. Next time around, we'd better have a movement. Saturday, April 5, 2008 the NBLC leadership convened its first quarterly meeting in Atlanta at the Holiday Inn Select Airport Hotel. NBLC conducted a members-only business meeting from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon ET. Following the meeting, organizers held a town hall meeting to allow members of Atlanta’s conscious Black community to learn first-hand what the BBB Movement and NBLC organization are all about. Of particular interest to the public will be the organization’s controversial call for the official establishment of a position to be known as the “President Of Black America (POBA).”

The afternoon session opened with a powerful and positive conscious entertainment performed by the “MAAT YOUTH GROUP Harlem Renaissance Experience” of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The group has put the organizations mission to music in the effot to bring back Black. Events of the day were captured and presented LIVE. Archives are available via SeeSIBtv.org .

Persons interested in joining the organization will be invited to attend a follow-up meeting to be convened by NBLC’s Atlanta chapter on May 10, 2008.

Atlanta, GA -- The newly formed NATIONALIST Black Leadership Coalition (NBLC), organizational arm for the national Movement to Bring Back Black [ BBB ] today announced plans to initiate its drive to recruit members and establish chapters around the country. NBLC organizers’ long-term goal is to emulate their ideological hero, the Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, and build the largest mass-based membership organization since the heyday of Mr. Garvey’s Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL) in the 1920s. NBLC’s corporate offices will be located in Atlanta, Georgia. The Movement held it “Birth-Giving” Convention October 13, 2007 in Kernersville, North Carolina when the NBLC was officially created on paper. Since that time organizers have been doing the “nuts-and-bolts” work of putting together the group’s structure and developing policies and procedures to guide its growth.

The NBLC organizational effort is directed by its seven-member Council Of Elders (COE), and the developmental work is coordinated by a Steering Committee comprised of appointed Chairpersons of eleven (11) “task forces” (sometimes also referred to as “standing committees), and ad-hoc (special purpose) committees. The COE and Steering Committee constitute the organization’s Leadership Team.

On Saturday, April 5, 2008 the NBLC leadership will convene its first quarterly meeting in Atlanta at the Holiday Inn Select Airport Hotel. They will conduct a closed-door members-only business meeting from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon ET. During the lunch break from 12:00 Noon to 1:15 PM conscious entertainment will be performed by the “MAAT YOUTH GROUP Harlem Renaissance Experience” of Fort Wayne, Indiana.

From 1:30 to 4:00 PM ET the organizers will hold a town hall meeting to allow members of Atlanta’s conscious Black community to learn first-hand what the BBB Movement and NBLC organization are all about. Of particular interest to the public will be the organization’s controversial call for the official establishment of a position to be known as the “President Of Black America (POBA).” Following a presentation of the NBLC’s plans and programs, organizers will field questions and give answers to the audience. Persons interested in joining the organization will be invited to attend a follow-up meeting to be convened by NBLC’s Atlanta chapter on May 10, 2008.

A closing plenary session will take place from 4:00 to 5:00 PM, at which time the meeting is scheduled to adjourn.

Following the day’s activities, Brother Dalani Aamon and Harambee Radio will host a social gathering for meeting attendees and the station’s listeners in the greater Atlanta area. That event will be held at the “Food For Life Supreme;” 880 MLK Blvd., S.W. in Atlanta, from 6:30 PM until?
