This week on It's a Doggone Shame, I had to circle the wagons for this week's program. Its a very personal subject for me as well as many Black males like me. This has been on my heart for decades now and when I received correspondence about a conference in Desoto on November 20th I knew it was time to put thought into action. Please! Please! Please! The Great Black Male Exodus : Black Men Missing From the Church-Vacant Pews. Why Black Men Are Saying "No" To The Church. Did you know 99 per cent of Blacks believe in God? And more than 80 per cent believe that faith can help solve social problems. Unlike their white peers, a majority of Black college students attend church regularly, and a majority of Black teenagers pray frequently.
Did you know, for that reason, rates of child abuse and drug abuse are lower in single-parent Black families than in single-parent white families? Did you know Black families of all income levels have high educational aspirations for their children (higher, in fact, than those of Italian-Americans and several other white ethnic groups)?
THEN WHY ARE BLACK MEN SAYING NO TO THE CHURCH?
